About Us

"Poetic language honours our polarities. We use the language of poetry to provide the many levels of feeling, facets of knowing, simultaneously, so we can examine them and move forward." – Peggy Osna Heller, CPT

In India, people with severe mental health issues often turn to temples, drugs, friends, and family for help, not doctors. The primary reason is a lack of awareness and sensitivity about the issue.

But imagine, what if we could use a pen and paper to get a hold of our nerves?  What if we could sit and undergo self-guided therapies at home, without the pressure of being judged?

Poems and literature create avenues for self-expression to convey what lies beyond simple language, allowing individuals to bridge the conscious and unconscious, something which cannot be felt through other means of communication. Poetry writing/reading in itself could be a cathartic process, a self-guided therapy that helps strengthen our mental health and connection to ourselves, and those around us.

At Kaavya Cure, we curate audio sessions, articles, and pieces; essentially conversations to create a safe space for empathy and healing through poetry.

Kaavya Cure is a movement that was envisioned to create a community of healing. Its motto is "Healing through Poems" and we firmly believe in it. It was conceptualized by Sukanya Basu Mallik and her sister, Sunanda Basu Mallik.
Sukanya Basu Mallik's works have been featured in Reader’s Digest, Times of India, Sahitya Akademi, Writer's life - UK, AIPF Int. Anthology ( Diverse city youth contest- Austin, US), etc. Bestowed with Best Manuscript Awards for fiction & non-fiction categories (Mumbai Litofest, 2018), she has also been recognized for her short story ‘Healing of wounds’ at NCLF led by Ruskin Bond.

Sunanda Basu Mallik's works have been featured in the Hindustan Times, Kloud 9, The telegraph in schools, and more. She was also the winner of the Picasso Art Contest for 2 consecutive years.
